I normally don't read books in this genre but I thought I'd take a chance on this one thanks to Amazon's free monthly selection. I was thrilled to read a story with such strong women characters. The descriptions of the clothing, smells, food, and lands makes me want to visit Morocco. I was disappointed that Benjamin was such a one dimensional character and that a few things that were brought up early in the story were utterly dropped. Still, this was an enjoyable read and I'm glad I chose it.

This was a fun historical fiction read while I was sick. I enjoyed it for what it was, but I also found it implausible and a little too "neat" (things work out too consistently).

Incredibly interesting

I loved how Sibylla was an independent woman who didn't let anything stop her from doing what she wanted. She stayed with a man she didn't love while she loved another from afar. She was faithful to the very end, to her husband and to the man she actually loved. I loved how she inspired her family members to follow their dreams and demanded respect from all who met her. I want to be that kind of strong-willed, independent woman.

This was a great story about a strong women that moves to Morocco in the 1800s and the life she lives there. It was interesting to read about how strong a role women have in Morocco during this time compared to women in the Western world. The only down side to this book is that I felt like it rushed through some stages as it was trying to cram to long a time frame into a single book. I would quite happily kept reading it if it was a series that contained more details.

Its a good book like the story it really picks up half way through but i feel like its a story that wont stay with me the way favorites have.

Couldn't get through it.

I'm in the minority on this one ---- While the story itself wasn't bad, it was a chore to get through.

Very good

At times, I wanted to scream because everything was going horribly wrong but it all ended beautifully in the end.

DID NOT FINISH

DNF after 37%. I thought the premise was really interesting and I haven’t read anything set in Morocco before. Didn’t like the writing and didn’t connect with the characters so not going to waste my time reading the rest of it.
