I like stories about time travel, but after a few chapters this book felt like being cornered by a man talking endlessly about himself. When he described falling (at first sight) for a captivating, beautiful, innocent yet perfectly sexually repressed girl, I slapped the book shut.
This book is very worth the read. It started out a little slow and I wasn't quite understanding what was going on, but as I got a little further, pieces started to make sense. 'The Little Book' is an intriguing journey through time.
One of the finest novels I have read in years. A time-traveling love story in fin de siecle Vienna. Brilliant and poetic.i loved it!
fun little wish-fulfillment fanfic ditty about turn-of-the-century Vienna
Just finished this book. Still not quite sure what to make of it. I liked it, for sure, despite its repetitiveness and sometimes it was a bit too predictable... But I think the "guy who time travels is responsible for major events" thing is fun -- it's what I like about fun time travel plots. I was not expecting all of the WWII stuff, so that was a pleasant surprise since it's my favorite history subject and I love reading anything about it (whether fiction or non-fiction).
I'll try to gather my thoughts and provide a better review soon.
