This was such a good read. The added depth and history of this classic tale was fantastic. The pain and rage of the main character is so relatable it make you want to be a villian too.

What a rollercoaster. I enjoyed the interweaving of fairytale retellings into this book and I'm very curious to see where the second half of the duology goes.

It’s a slow burn. Not much until more than Halfway through because of the world building. The twist was predictable and not enough smut to get me to read the second book. But it was fascinating and a good, interesting concept.

Through out this book I was thinking it was enjoyable but nothing adventurous. I couldn't understand the hype and love around this book. It felt like another misunderstood character trope which, don't get me wrong, is good but I couldn't see it being beloved worthy. Then the ending happened and now I understand. It may not be a 5 star read but I can see where the love is coming from.

The second half of the book really let's the villains slowly shine. There are some great moments where it puts there "I'm the villain" scenes front and centre, and honestly I was kind of there for it. Sometimes villains just need to be villains as not to take away from the other characters.

I recommend reading this if you are a fairytale retelling fan. It doesn't follow it all the plot beats, but there are some good easter eggs.

I love this book, I wish that the romance had made a bigger aspect. But Alyce needed her time to grow and find herself. I had my suspicions of Kal and Laurel and sadly I was proven correct with their betrayal of Alyce in the end. As I read this book during class I wanted to throw it so badly at the end. The sequel can't come quick enough to quench my anger at the Briar King and Laurel. I was satisfied with Alyce's revenge, but now I simply want Alyce to be reunited with Aurora. I'm worried to see how much my heart will be broken in the sequel, but we'll find out soon enough.

bro.. what the heck… i need the second book NOW
i loved this book very much and i haven’t been able to stop thinking about it since i finished it. the only thing i didn’t enjoy as much is how the ending came about; it seemed like the author was trying to throw in a cliff hanger and it just seemed very abrupt against the rest of the plot
but other than that, i adored it!!
