If You Give a Jerk a Gingerbread - The hero and heroine are competing against each other on a Christmas baking show and I am here for it. For me, the pacing of this story worked best out of the collection, but I felt like the hero's personality was very similar to the first story. 4 stars.

Thanks to the author and Candi Kane PR for my copy in exchange for an honest review.

Audio: Erin Mallon narrates all three stories (and it's easy to find the separate stories in the Audible app.) She's not one of my favorite narrators, but I think she's better than most. 4 Stars.

Sweet and funny short story!

This was a cute Christmas short story! You have to remember that this is a SHORT story, meaning the relationship will progress quickly. If you’re not a fan of that, don’t read this.

The writing style was excellent and there was a few laugh out loud moments. Our main characters are both bakers/chefs who meet while in Reindeer Falls for a baking competition and quickly progress from there. I was looking for a light-hearted quick read after reading a dark romance series, and this hit the spot! Took maybe an hour to read.

Ok. So I enjoyed this so much more than the first book in this series.

Ginger. A baker. About to compete in a reality television baking competition. The day before filming commences, she meets Keller James. A Chef who already has his own baking show on the food network - and a tall, cool drink of water. She assumes he's a judge. Turns out he's her competition.

And so begins their little entanglement.

This was adorable. ADORABLE. Ginger's internal dialogue was hilarious. The spice level could have been higher (this is Jana Aston after all) - but for a novella it worked. I would say this was more of a slow burn - building the tension between our mains.

My issue is that I want all Jana Aston books to be full-length. I wish this had been dual point of view - hearing Keller's perspective would have simply added to this story.

All that said - this is full of baking delights (don't read this if you are craving anything holiday baked), loads of Christmas spirit and a wonderful HEA. Keller was a great cinnamon role hero. And Ginger is GREAT.

Really enjoyed this quick read. Totally recommend it.

Cute
Short
Easy to read
Just what I’d expect from a Christmas movie or book though the series could’ve been better as just one big book.

If You Give a Jerk a Gingerbread is decent, but not as good as the first in the series. The heroine, Ginger, is great, but sometimes she's just too quirky. And the hero, Keller, is great too, but he completely falls for Ginger the first minute after meeting her and acts too dreamy the whole time. Plus he doesn't act like a jerk at all, so I don't understand the title.

This did have many cute moments, and I'll be reading more in this series.

In this next Christmas novella we get Ginger and Keller, Ginger is a baker and she has been entered into a Food Network competition and one of her competitors is professional chef Keller James, she has to fight her attraction to this hot chef and his British accent so she can focus on winning and collecting the prize money to open her own bakery. Keller is wanting more out of his life as a professional chef with his own tv show and the town of Reindeer Falls has drawn him in especially when he meets Ginger Winter. He is immediately attracted to her and wants more with her, so he spends a few days getting know her better beyond the competition and he realizes he is falling hard for his Ginger Spice. This was super cute and I loved how the author incorporated the Food Network competition because it felt like I was truly watching a tv show. Super cute and a fun read.

• hot holiday british baking show •

Very cute holiday romance. I went through a great british baking show phase, and still love that show. I’m not really even sure why I like it so much, but I do know that puff pastry is no joke.

With that said, this was really enjoyable because it’s set in a small town that exudes christmas energy and happens to be hosting a gingerbread baking contest for a cooking network.

Very pleased with this christmas/holiday romance. Worth it.

Happy Reading Friends xx

Adorable. ❤️

Oh my gosh. This series is absolutely the cutest, sweetest, hallmark-movie worthy Christmas series I’ve EVER read. This is book 2, and I’m completely obsessed. I want to share it with the world. Ginger and Keller are both adorable and swoon-worthy, even when they were competing. I can’t think of a single thing I disliked about this story. But I have to wait a few more days before book 3 comes out, and I’m super sad about that!
