Good book lots of detail i did not know. I suppose i should read Gore Vidal's Burr for the "other side of the story?"

There were times when I felt the book delved into mini-biographies of people in Hamilton’s life which ;to me at least) were unnecessary. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed this book! Well written, it gives an excellent telling of the life and death of Alexander Hamilton.

A book about history passes a certain test when after 731 pages, you're left wanting to know more. This book did that for me. I thought I knew what I needed to know about the Revolution and early American history. I knew nothing! To gain some balance, my next biography will be on Jefferson, but it will take some research to figure out which one.

I love the term "Hamiltome". It's so perfect for this book. It was not easy to read, and I have to admit that I wondered if I really needed to know that much about Hamilton's writings, especially The Federalist Papers. This book made me feel educated. I'm grateful for that.

I wonder when I will stop singing, "Alexander Hamilton", "Alexander Hamilton". . .

Now--how to see the musical?

Much better than I anticipated! I thought this would be dry and less interesting than the musical, but it was pretty interesting still! There were some bits where it lost me, so many names and people that I didn't know, but for the most part I was in it and loving it. I 'd recommend this to most people, if you're a fan of the musical, if you love history, if you want to love history, this is a good place to start. I now want to read other works by Chernow!
