It took me a bit to get into, but I'm glad I stuck with it. Really fascinating story of a founding father I don't know much about. After reading (and loving) David McCullough's John Adams, it was interesting to read this and get another perspective on Thomas Jefferson and George washington, to name a few. Very interesting man who did SO much in the founding years of this country. Pretty amazing and inspiring. Now I'm ready to watch the musical!
informative slow-paced

It was so long, I kept putting it on the back burner. It is interesting material, but it is too much to handle when balancing work, school and home life.
informative medium-paced

Love the musical, but this book was just too long/slow for me! I feel like I've been reading for so long and Hamilton hasn't even left his island home yet!

If I am to be completely honest, the only reason I chose to read this book in the first place was because of the musical. Once I started it, however, I couldn't stop. Chernow expertly shapes the life of Alexander Hamilton into a detail-rich narrative that captures readers from the first page. He illustrates Hamilton's gusto, cockiness, and compassion beautifully, allowing the reader to live the events alongside him.

It is a must-read for all!
