Soo good. A sort of crime thriller with fingerlicking good descriptions of food that makes you want to cook instantly and a hint of feminism

Ummm Rika & Reiko do yous know it’s legal?
I absolutely loved this book. Rika is such an interesting character, her going from being wrapped up in Kajii’s perspective to finally breaking free of the hold she had on her and seeing the truth. Love the feminism, the relationships between the women is central in this book. Also I’m obsessed with the yuri potential here.

I think something is lost in translation here and I just can't get into it, about 20% finished. I am not a foodie or a Japan-o-phile, so maybe this just wasn't a book for me.
There is a TON of fat phobia and misogyny (even while the main character claims to be rejecting it, she does so by claiming not to be one of THOSE women), and I have seen no evidence it will be resolved or addressed by the main character. Also, the narrative style bounces around with little transition, and it constantly references Japanese foods and places that I just have zero context for. I'm done.
