Slow start for me (put it away in first chapter but then picked it up again) but became an sweet, enjoyable glimpse into both perspectives of their personal growth.

When I first watched the movie Flipped, probably over a decade ago even, I thought it was the most charming, most lovely movie ever. I didn't know it was a book til recently.

As much as I wish I read this a decade ago, cause I'd have loved it more then, it was still a delightful read.

I read this youth book because it is coming out as a movie (dir. by Rob Reiner)this fall. Much of the filming took place in the neighborhood Paul grew up in and his elementary school. They built a "fake" house just down the street from his parents. We will watch the movie as a family. I don't like substituting a movie for reading a book - and if I really like a book, I WON'T see the movie! Anne gave the book 2 thumbs up.

“the whole is more than the sum of its parts”

i find it amazing that a book about little kids can be as deep as this is. look at the person next to you, you might think they’ve got it all figured out, but deep within there may be battles that you have no idea they are fighting.

sonder.

the feeling when you realize that everyone around you has a life as complex as your own.

i loved this sm. recommended.
