Can I say I loved this book? It dealt with teenage love and Van Draanen had the writing where it was funny and nuanced. The way that she portrayed both Bryce and Juli were so realistic. They had their flaws and it was so achingly beautiful. It was such a beautiful read and why I got into romance. Any teenagers who are reading this review, please note this will make you laugh. It was such a basic plot but she elevated it to the point it was nuanced. She grabbed the idea of love and put it in a good plot. I loved all the characters. They were relatable.

It's a little cute. The slurs threw me off and I wish that the family members of the person in question didn't use them. ldk what time the story is set in, but still. Juli Baker is the real reason to read this book, honestly. She's a relatable character but also someone to look up to. Bryce might be the character you're embarrassed to relate to, maybe. I liked how things came around full circle with him and Juli at the end.
