An uncomfortable book that sends home the main point of someone with an addiction is still a someone. A book I didn’t appreciate until the back half, and am now in awe of. As an Ohioan who saw the opioid crisis hit my hometown, it was a painful and relatable read.
Have compassion & help others. Once you get past the first 150 pages, which are admittedly a little slow and repetitive, the final 200 are remarkable.

Emory is a 16 year old girl who’s struggling with a traumatic car crash that she was in. Her brother, Joey, goes to rehab to help with his drug problem. The story is about the ups and downs of recovery, and the ups and downs of being a 16 year old in high school.
I liked this book, for the most part. I had a hard time connecting with any of the characters tho, as this felt very YA, which is obviously not where I’m at in life anymore lol. But it did shed light on a real problem in the world; addiction. And how it not only affects the user but everyone around them as well.
