I recieved an ARC in 2019 before release day, and as soon as I finished I rated it a 5 star. I admit I got caught up in all the hype and emotions, and looking back I'm not proud of that since I strive for honesty when it comes to reviews and ratings. Which is why I'm finally getting to it, even though it is so late that it's probably invalid now lol.

Once I finished the ARC I went to write my review thinking it was going to be a raving one, however I was seeing everything I disliked about it rather than liked which resulted in me never posting my review with my edited rating, because I had such mixed emotions that I didn't know what to say. However, now that I've finally gotten around to editing my rating, I figured it wouldn't hurt quickly mentioning why I had a change of heart back then and why I stand by that change of heart today.

I genuinely believe that Luna and Knight's romance and story took a backseat to Rosie. We get chunks of their time dealing with the reality of Rosie's illness, and their individual struggles. But we only get snippets of them together, that by the time we get to their actual romance and relationship, we're at the end and it's being rushed. Now I do think Lj did a beautiful job at delivering the heartbreak and emotions of this story, however due to all the time spent making sure that was perfect; Luna and Knight didn't get the story and ending I feel they deserved. I wanted more of them.

There was definitely more, but like I said above; this review is probably invalid now. I would say though, that if you're going to read Broken Knight; don't expect a romance between two characters as your story. Expect to read a book more so about tradegy and family heartbreak, with a friendship that turns quickly into a relationship at the end due to one being there for the other. I think that's the best mindet to have for you to enjoy this book as a whole.

"Broken Knight" is an absolute masterpiece, deserving of every bit of praise it receives. From the first page to the last, it grips you tightly, refusing to let go even after you've finished reading. This book took me on an emotional rollercoaster, leaving me breathless and in awe of its brilliance.

The characters, especially Knight and Luna, are beautifully crafted and utterly captivating. Their journey is raw, emotional, and incredibly relatable. Knight's brokenness and Luna's strength create a dynamic that is both heartbreaking and heartwarming. Their evolution throughout the story is nothing short of phenomenal.

Shen's writing is exquisite, weaving together a narrative that is as poignant as it is powerful. She doesn't shy away from the tough topics, tackling them with grace and sensitivity. The themes of love, loss, and resilience resonate deeply, leaving a lasting impact on the reader.

But what truly sets "Broken Knight" apart is its ability to inspire hope even in the darkest of moments. Despite the tears and heartache, there is a sense of optimism that shines through, reminding us that there is always light at the end of the tunnel.

In short, "Broken Knight" is a masterpiece that deserves to be read and cherished by all. It's a book that will stay with you long after you've turned the final page, and one that I wholeheartedly recommend to anyone looking for a powerful and unforgettable read. 5/5 stars, without a doubt.

I loved this book! It hit all the ranges of emotion. I laughed, I cried, I sat at the edge of my seat. I highly recommend this book. I haven't read any of the other books in the series and was able to follow along and fully enjoy it. The development of the characters was perfect, you felt them, you related to them. I've been wanting to read L.J. Shen and so glad our book club picked this book! I've already recommended it!

This author is my favourite for dark romance novels and this is a good damn great book. I loved how grief was handled in the book. I loved that these characters were in so much pain and you could feel through the pages. I wish there were more romance novels like this.

THOUGHTS:

I want to thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for giving me the opportunity to read an e-arc in exchange for my honest review.

There is not a single book LJ could write that I would not read. They could write the a phone book and I’d devour it. I loved this read. It was so good and you move right through it leaving no crumbs! Take all my stars LITERALLY! The characters were so incredibly well written and you get all the feels for them. I adored these characters. I fell in love with Knight Cole and adored Luna to peices. My heart went through many emotional rollercoaster rides through the entire book, I cried and laughed and cried some more and giggled….. This book gave me all the feels from start to finish and when I finished I felt unwell because I didn’t want it to end. I will be making this a must read in my book club and know that this will be a reader favorite by all! Fabulous work!!!!
