This was nicely written. There were numerous beautifully written lines that felt almost too literary for this book lol.
I don’t have a problem with the plot or the storyline, it was the characters that I had hard time coping with. One time they were these reckless, quirky and troublesome teenagers and other time, they were adults trapped inside the bodies of adolescents. You may say, ‘maybe the characters have developed?”, no I don’t think it was a development because they keep going back and forth between these two extremes.
Also, some things were kind of unrealistic ? A heist of uncoordinated teenagers breaking into a prestigious and highly-secured institution? And they really believed they would get away with it ? Their rich friend would just bail them out like it’s no big deal ?

okay.

Do you ever get halfway through a novel and realize you really just don't care?

A very exciting premise ruined by too-simplistic writing and a flat plot. Sigh.

Haven’t read in a few days and don’t really feel the want to. Returned library audiobook & sold physical copy at half priced books.

DNF page 62. What the fuck. This is awful.

Um?? Trigger warning for bullying?

Hate the main character, who is the bully (along with her friends) but acts holier–than–thou about it even after she majorly fucks up, and the plot is very convenient in ways that make no sense. Even worse, she's bullying this girl to "save her" from being introverted and quiet. The adults don't act like adult at all and just turn an blind eye to everything that's happening. If my dad let my bully into my room and get all up in my business while I'm in the hospital from an injury I got from said bully, I would strangle him :)

Sometimes there is nothing to fix to make yourself feel better about yourself and the best you can do is just leave the person you've wronged FINALLY ALONE instead of inserting yourself even more into their life against their will, and that is the case here.

I don't care if they fall in love later, I'm not on board with this lazy bully romance, of which there was absolutely no mention of in the description at all. Which is so upsetting.

How is this written by the same person that did "The Wicker King"?? I am speechless and disappointed.
