On the surface, Wen Apollo and Estelle Gage are from two different worlds but a chance meeting when Wen delivers a package to Owl Island, where the Gage summer estate sits, leads them to the love of a lifetime. From the first moment, Wen and Estelle let each other know that is attracted, and instead of letting the outside world stand in their way, the two begin a lovely romance. Spring in upstate NY is the perfect backdrop for these two as the cold temperatures lead to time snuggling by the fire, chatting, and getting to know one another. As time passes, Estelle is able to finish the novel she has come to the island to write, and Wen’s future in Coopersville is sealed. Estelle’s wealthy family staying on Owl Island for the summer puts pressure on their new relationship. Wen and Estelle work tirelessly to make their relationship work. While insecurities (on Wen’s side) get in the way, ever-patient Estelle continuously reaffirms her love. This rich girl/poor girl Sapphic romance is a perfect read to warm a reader up on a cold Winter’s afternoon.
