4.5 | “Thoughts are just a different kind of bacteria, colonizing you.” I’m not really into astronomy and other intergalactic stuff so much (which I wasn’t aware of its involvement before going into the book), however, John Green really did well in depicting mental illness in such a way that he gave me a door to perceive what it was like for someone who’s coping with OCD and anxiety, which was also the reason I was up for it. It was gratefully written as much as TFIOS was, but had a more realistic portrayal of a highschool mc, Aza Holmes, who dealt with the daily pressure of the illness and being a teenager, and the struggles of letting go and accepting herself, as well as keeping up with the ups and downs of her familial and friendship bonds.

So, this book was ok. I read a lot of reviews before I started, and people were just hating it. Because of that, I was a little nervous going in. I think the problem is that a lot of fans of TFIOS are expecting more of the same from John Green. You will be very disappointed if you go in to this expecting to feel all the feels like in that book. Go in to it with no expectations and you might enjoy it. If you do read it, I’d like to know what you think.
