Wow. That was an emotional journey for sure! This is by far my favorite book out of the series! Especially since it focused on my favorite OTP in this one

By now, it shouldn’t be a surprise that I loved this book so much. I already KNOW the next 3 books are going to be 5 star reads as well. I just love this series. I LOVE every member of the cabal.

This one was slower, the calm before the storm. The cabal was processing their grief and trauma, taking the much needed time to heal. I loved that.

There were so many beautiful moments, happy moments, heartbreaking moments. I cried several times both in joy and sadness. All the feels!

Another stunning addition to the Starchaser Saga, Lightfall dives back into an enrapturing plot and never lets go. From the action, to believable and progressing romances (be still, Wildheart), friendships and bonds (Ashe and Bresnyar was my favorite!) all in the midst of political turmoil and a heartstopping trial to try to end the rampage. This intense story had so many connecting subplots that always weaved together at a perfect pace. Renee does it again with her refined prose. She needs to bottle up her writing skills and sell it. Ha ha. Can't wait to continue reading the cabal's journey!

Vague review to keep spoilers away.

This was a gorgeous middle book filled with some necessary healing and loving scenes that I was swooning left and right over. I loved many many moments and even highlighted some quotes (I’m terrible at remembering to highlight parts I love).

The character development is as always, first and foremost in my mind and Lightfall brings it. I loooove seeing how these character continue to move forward from trauma and intensity of all the things that have happened.

I like how Cistine stays at the forefront of this group, but that each book seems to highlight another’s journey. This one followed Ashe the most and while I occasionally wanted to shake her, I’m so happy to see where she is now. The focus on therapy and speaking your truths is a theme throughout.

The PAIN of that ending though has me on pins and needles and I NEED ANSWERS.

Overall audience notes:
- Fantasy
- Language: a little
- Romance: closed door
- Violence: high
- Trigger/Content Warnings: murder, physical and magical altercations, battle themes, torture, loss of loved ones, PTSD, mentions of rape and sexual assault

This is too hard to review but I promise I will soon!

*takes a few minutes to sulk*
Okay, I will try...

Let's start this with saying I have very mixed feelings, and 99% of them because of very personal reasons that are not of Renee's making (I didn't want to say fault but couldn't find the right word either). Finishing this book's got me thinking about the way we review books, about what matters, and about how easy it is to focus on the negatives when we find something we don't like.. Or maybe something we're not ready for. Or that is not what we expected.

This book is great. It is, in some ways, a perfect continuation of a saga that gripped my heart in a tight fist from the moment I stepped into this universe.
A lot of the things I've loved so far are still here, but still... There's something so different in this book. And I think I might have understood this a bit when I read the acknowledgements at the end. For me, this book was in a parallel universe only one choice away from the original. I don't know if that makes sense, but I feel like there was one tiny little thing here that wasn't the story I was reading before, and that threw me off a little.

That being said, I also know this book is everyone's favorite in the saga, so maybe I'm biased because of all the tropes used here that I'm not fond of. So, read this knowing that this is probably a very very biased review
