I love Lyra Selene's lyrical and metaphorical writing! And these characters?! I love them.
This was such a wonderful story and the writing style added so much to the story. There was a darkness to the story and the characters that was at the front with the lyrical words. The story was perfect for the growth of the characters and weaving the worldbuilding, lore, and plot all together.
And the characters! Fia has trauma and struggles with who she is in her own story, and it makes her character so relatable in so many ways. She struggles to let go with how she sees herself, her life, and her love interest based on the lies that have been fed to her for her entire life. But the way that she grows and opens up, accepts who she truly is being in the lands of the Folk is truly a fantastic story. And let's not even get into how amazing Irian is as a character. At first untrustworthy and villainous, the story brings his character to light, out of the darkness that is surrounding him.
I truly love this magical world and these characters that Lyra Selene has woven with her writing, and I cannot wait to see where the next book takes everything.

Animal death - horse is consumed by nature so technically dies. Self-harm - Fia uses pain with thorns and brambles on her wrist Suicide attempt -leahharlann's review against another edition
After an initially interesting set-up, it just gets incredibly boring when the pace becomes GLACIAL in order to stretch out the pining and angst between the Female Lead and the first Male Lead. There had only been a couple of interesting interactions between the FL and the second ML (who was likely endgame) but nothing else and no real plot progression to even keep me engaged. I was too bored to even skim to the end.

I really enjoyed this book! The main character was a little frustrating at times but I honestly really love her. I loved how she developed her self love. I thought the ending of the book was going to be predictable(and for some part it was) but it still managed to surprised and I can not wait to read the next installment.
