This book was a huge surprise to me and I find it criminally underrated. It uses Irish mythology  in a way that makes the world feel magical in a dangerous and unpredictable kind of way. I loved the fmc and how out-of-place she feels. She has an insane character development arc. She starts out being used as a tool and a weapon and being happy to receive even an ounce of highly conditional love. She ends up

rejecting a highly annoying man who truly does not deserve her, standing up to her mother who clearly never cared about her, learning that she is worthy of love, and finding someone who will love her without any ifs or buts

. I loved the swan lake vibes of this book paired with the Irish mythology and terminology. The morally grey second mmc was also a surprisingly complex character and you could really see how at every encounter they slowly fell more and more in love with each other, until one day they realised they were in love all along. I loved the bonus chapter in my edition that showed the story from his perspective.

The good: this book has a creative premise, the fae realm feels opulent, and I loved the MC. I blew through this book and will likely read the next.

The not so good: perhaps because of the limited time with him, the male romantic lead is pretty one dimensional. There are also some extremely repetitive passages.
