On one hand, there were moments of absolutely gorgeous writing in here, and I’d say the first 75% of the book was quite gripping. It was way too long, though, and the last quarter really lost me. The main character started acting SO dumb, and the plot stopped making any kind of sense.

4.5 stars, would have been a full five but it was a little hard to get into - lots of unusual names and world building thrown at you off the bat. But then it got interesting and I couldn’t put it down. Lots of flowery, descriptive writing, which for me helps imagine the scenes but for some it might be a but much.

I’m utterly disappointed. I wanted that high-stakes and strong female lead but instead I got another love triangle, troped out book.
