I had high hopes for this one, but now that I’ve finished it I’m not sure how I feel. It was not a bad book however the female main character, which is the primary focus of the book was kind of insufferable.
Understanding that her main goal was to find the love that she’s always desired and to be able to love others, but the amount of self loathing and self deprecation and insecurities that she had really kinda overwhelmed the story for me.
She did have some character development towards the end of the book however, I don’t think it came soon enough to really justify how she got there. I honestly don’t think I will continue with the series.
Maybe if I sit with it for a while, I might change my mind but as of now I don’t think the series is for me.

It’s been 10 days since I’ve read this book and I already can hardly remember it … the love triangle was so annoying since once option was clearly an asshole and not the right fit. The end was confusing and not satisfying, and I have no clue what the rest of the series would cover but I honestly don’t really care ?

Can you see most of the plot twists coming from a mile away? Sure. Did I fully understand the ending? Nope. Did it feel like a “flower painted a color” every other page? Yes.
My one substantial quibble with the book was the pacing; the conceit is that the main character can only enter the fairy realms one night a month, so it feels like she spends 27 days piddling for every one of action, but the author does mostly gloss over those.
Nevertheless, I’m obsessed and cannot wait for the next one. I loved the prose, the characters, the romance, and the plot.
