That ending left a lot of be desired, but I'm sure with the sequel a lot of that will be remedied. I also think this book captures the atmosphere of Swan Lake super well, while managing to have no ballet whatsoever, so that felt impressive on the author's part.

Loved the writing, Lyra has a wonderful way of using her words to create a vivid picture!
This book is a masterpiece. I had an absolute blast!! I love the magic system. The FMC is a badass! Her growth throughout the book is beautiful!! The brutal betrayal is predictable but just soo freaking good!!!!!
The love between both the MMC’s is so beautiful.
I can’t believe it took me so long to read this book! I highly recommend this series!!
not interested in a love triangle (square?) or trials, bleh
This book had things I liked and didn’t like about it. It was soo hard to follow sometimes and some things just didn’t make any sense, and I think it was because the writing was not clear/things needed to be explained better. There was SO much gaelic with no definition that I had a hard time following/being immersed. I was so confused by the ending until I read the sample of the next books first chapter. Overall it was ok, I eventually was captivated enough to not want to put it down, but I’m not sure I care enough to want to read the next book for fear that it’s going to confuse me as much as this one did.
A darker reimagining of The Swan Princess, this story was heavy. I felt for Fia as she warred with the two sides of herself. Choosing between her past and her potential future. I look forward to reading the next part of the trilogy, although this could have been a stand alone story.
Wow. Where can I start with this one? I'm sad I'll never be able to experience reading this book for the first time again - and so excited for all the people who are going to be picking it up for the first time!
Fia is a changeling, left behind on the night Eala was stolen, the girl she's grown to think of as her sister. While furious at first, her queen mother did something unexpected - unlike everyone else in the castle, she came to love Fia. To love her the way only a mother could, her, the girl made of rot and thorns and ruin.
Coming into the thirteenth year since Eala was taken, they've finally stumbled upon something. An opening, a way to get into Tir na NOg and finally find a way to set Eala and the other swan maidens free from the geas they've been bound to. To bring them home. Fia is willing to do whatever it takes to save her sister, even if it means her life. Even if it means watching her wed Rogan, the only boy she's ever loved, the one who was never meant for her.
Set over a course of 13 full moons - the one night the gateway is weak enough to permit them entrance to the fae realm - Fia and Rogan will need to work together to find the girls and a way to free them.
Wow. There is so much I want to say about this book. I feel like I've already been talking about it forever to fellow book lovers, and there just aren't enough words to convey how special this one is. How magical, and dark, and hurting, and hopeful. Wow. This one is good.
