medium-paced

To be honest, the second book was a long drag up until the last 100 pages where all the action was cramped together. Of not for those last 100 pages, I would have stopped on the second book, now I’ll still read the third one 😅

I actually enjoyed this book a bit more than the first. It took me a long time to finish it because I was too deep in Expanse lol. I love Lila, usually characters like her who are stubborn and hot headed are not my favorite but Lila is someone I want to rally behind. Loved the addition of Allucard in this, my bisexual pirate i love you king.
The only thing meh for me was the plot, a lot of the main story revolved around the tournament which didnt really connect with the main story. The interesting stuff was in White London  but that also felt like a setup for the final book. I feel like Schwab went in thinking it was going in one direction but then lost her way through the middle.

Good not great. I’ll finish the series.

3.5⭐
