The second book was a lot more world building and setting the plot for the final book. It was good and there were lots of moving parts, but not as fast or engrossing as the first book!

Took a while for me to read, didn’t find myself overly compelled to pick it up but I enjoyed it when I was reading it

Again I am kicking myself for being late to this series!!

After reading the first one in the series, I knew this was going to be good. Schwab did an great job setting up the world and characters in that one that I was invested to see this play out.

I really loved that this one was a few months out from the last, showcasing all of our characters where they are in the aftermath and then Schwab expands on from there. She introduces new characters and expands on the world, especially Red London.

It was quite a buildup all throughout, alternating between Lila and Rhys primarily and then once they meet again, it was such a rush and that last 25ish percent was everything and I was just enthralled and waiting with Bates breath. Also that was such an illegal cliffhanger. Ugh 😩 😫

I'm on hold at the library for the last one.

I enjoyed the first half until the tournament. After that not a whole lot was going on. It was a very wierd decision to go from a near ending catastrophe to an anime like tournament arc. I wished there were more interactions with Rhy and Alucard as the book makes a huge deal but it looks like it's saving it for the third book which is my main gripe. Nothing has been solved, just a filler book that's solely meant to set up for the third book. A major step-down from the first book.

It's getting a three star becuase of the first half and I do like the characters.

amazing. that’s all i have to say

I liked this book better than the first one. Pirates and magic is definitely a fun and unexpected combo!
