I love Lily and Loren so much. Their friendship from the start screamed soul mates to me, even when they were suppose to be pretending, it was all too real. I love the side characters just as much (maybe not Ryke, I’m still mad at him), they were all so dynamic and beautifully written. The protectiveness of Rose of Lily touch something in my heart that I just knew if she were to confide in Rose (like she did) she would be accepted and without judgment.
I really don’t know how to formulate any consistent thoughts and feelings besides that I NEED to see where the rest of this story goes! What happens to Lo and Lily? What about Connor and Rose? What about their relationship now that Rose has to take care of Lily? I even care about Ryke! How is he doing now that he has a brother in his life that he’s having to take care of in a rehab facility because of their shitty father? I need the answers to these.
I will say the reason I gave this story a 4 stars out of 5 (sadly couldn’t give it a 4.75 like i wanted) was in the middle with the whole Ryke situation it started to lose track for me and I felt there was a lull but it instantly picked up and I devoured the last 150 or so pages nonstop.

I flew through this book and loved every second of it. However, it’s definitely not for everyone. It’s not going to be the fluffy romance you want but definitely not the serious book with depth either. While it wasn’t necessarily the best writing and time was passing in the book with no major changes, the tension, love, personal problems, and the characters were worth it for me to rate it high and obsess over it constantly. When I wasn’t reading, I wanted to be. If another book was written this way, I may have wanted more and rated lower; somehow this story left nothing to be desired and I loved it.

This plot? Unlike anything, I've ever read before. These characters? Lightyears away from perfect. Yet, despite how upset and uncomfortable this book made me feel, looking back on it now that I'm finished; I suddenly have little ill to speak of it.
Lily and Loren, drowning in their respective vices decide that they should officially start dating (instead of continuing to pretend for their families), in hopes to curb their addictions now that the stakes are higher; possibly ruining and losing each other. If only it was as easy as it sounded.
Addiction truly is poison. I've heard this phrase a few times, however, how cancerous it can be has been put into perspective tenfold. The authority their vices had in their lives was almost sickening. The choices they made as a result of this upset to no end and I found myself in a constant state of dread. What are they gonna do next? Are they gonna regress 20 steps and hurt each other so bad that they'll never recover?
Those were only in-the-moment emotions thankfully; When I took a few seconds to fully grasp their situation and their actions because of it, I was a lot more empathetic and just felt bad for their shitty circumstances. I love that they had such caring friends to help them get to the point of seeking help. I'm really interested in the rest of the series and how they overcome these challenges.
I'M ESPECIALLY EXCITED TO READ
