I knew very little of Ardern before reading this, and this was a great insight into her early life, her entry into politics and her time as prime minister. Her voice is very down to earth (despite being a career politician) and I appreciated the insight into some of what informed her time as PM, especially through major events like the Christchurch mosque shooting and Covid. I've listened to a lot of political autobiographies in the past year and this one is among my favourites.

I have followed Ardern’s story for a long while, yet I still laughed, cried and smiled through the book. It is a memoir that reads almost like a novel. Ardern writes in a very warm, emotional and descriptive manner. I love how the personal and political intertwined throughout, highlighting how politicians are humans and how the public and private spheres entangle for our leaders. The toll of leadership on anyone and their relationships is obvious.
I loved how her raw narration in the audiobook adds to the story as well.
