The author goes almost, but not quite, too far in this book. Wow. By the end, I could barely breathe. These characters are a challenge to predict. Definitely for adults and older teens only.

Ugh I loved this book and I hated this book. Everything that emma went through was heartbreaking. And I understand everyone copes with situations differently. But I was getting so aggravated with how she treated everyone. Especially Evan. I felt like she let Jonathan and cole in a lot more then Evan. She just kept pushing him away when all he did was show how much he loved her! And the whole thing with Jonathan! Ugh is anted to be Sara and smack her and say get over it because you been through worse! Idk what drew her to Jonathan in the second book and why she was so determined to find him in this one. I'm happy she finally was with Evan but I felt all that pushing him away was unnecessary. I guess this was a good ending to the series. I wish I could've seen more after the epilogue. I never understood why the grandmother didnt want anything to do with her either. I felt for emma. She had every right to act the way she did. She was dealt a bad life but I felt bad for Evan because she treated him the worst!

Amazing

I felt every moment in this book. The emotions were just pouring out of it. It's long but worth it.

I need this book.

This. Book!

August 2013 Edit:

I HAVE this book!

Haven't read it yet, but that's beside the point. I HAVE IT AND I CAN READ IT WHENEVER I WANT AND HAVE MY BROKEN HEART MENDED!

And Evan?

After Reading:

Right now... I can't. I feel like I'm about to burst into tears (
Spoilerin the best of all possible ways
), and there is nothing I want to do more than flip this book open to my favorite parts and lose myself in it all over again. Once again I am IN AWE of Rebecca Donovan's writing and her characters, and her ability in this book to not only allow me to lose myself inside Emma's head, but in Evan's just as flawlessly.

THANK YOU, Ms. Donovan, for these books.

I'm really sad right now. I can't believe this is the end of the Emma&Evan trilogy. Don't get me wrong the book was absolutely perfect, but I'm gonna miss reading about them.
I think I'll miss perfect Evan the most. The first chapters of the book killed me with their Evan-lessness! With every page I turned I kept expecting to see his name, to know what he was up to, what he'd gone through all that time he and Emma were apart. And the wait was reaaaaaally long, but then, once he finally appeared again, we got to see the story from his point of view!!! I almost fainted when I realized I'd get to see inside his head and heart! The long wait was definitely worth it. And even though I realized he had imperfections, and had made some mistakes, they only made him more perfect in my eyes. I truly love him.
I really liked all the new characters too. Emma's roommates, Evan's California friends and poor, sweet Cole. I felt so bad for him, but at the same time was thinking, 'Well, what did you expect? She never stopped and will never stop loving Evan. Sorry'. Serena, Meg, Peyton, Nate, Brent, TJ and Ren made me wish I had such good friends as them. They kept making me laugh. Especially Brent.
What to say about Emma? I was really worried about her at the beginning. But the things she did also made me angry. She was hurting really badly and was drowning in guilt, but refused to open up to anyone, and it was tearing her apart. She hit rock bottom. But then Evan was there to guide her back, to help return the light to her eyes, to heal her (and himself) with the love they shared. He knew what to do to fix her, because he knows her like no one else does. And she finally, FINALLY opened up to him! And voila! You have an epic love story. Gosh, I'm gonna miss them so bad.
I wanna thank Rebecca Donovan for the most beautiful, angsty, heart-wrenching and heartwarming trilogy of all times. And for giving us the most perfect book boyfriend ever! I'm hoping with all my might that she keeps writing. I can't wait to see what her next story will be about, but I'm 100% sure it'll be amazing.

I thought this was a decent ending to the series. I love Evan and Emma's story, however this last book seemed to drag at the end for me. Evan tries, Emma pushes away, they bond together. Emma pushes away again, Evan tries, they bond together. A lot of back and forth with the same things. However I did like that Cole was thrown in the mix in this story to add some extra drama. I think the way Cole just abruptly disappeared once Evan came back kinda sucked. I was hoping to see some confrontation between the two boys. I wanted to see Evan have to fight for her a little bit but overall it was a good read and a good ending to the trilogy.

I finished the trilogy, and I still don't know what to make of it. It has a predictable ending (of course she bought the house), and the heroine did not really redeem herself in the end. There were also a lot of loose ends, like did Emma really agree to therapy, and did she seek closure from Cole? I did not like how her mom ended up. Even that was not consistent with what the mom showed in the first book. I thought that moment with Jonathan should have been longer? And seriously, Evan's character is just not that realistic. Sarah's even. If I were friends with Emma I would have given up by now. I was expecting an epilogue where they lived happily ever after (blech) but I was pleasantly surprised that she visited her cousins, that was a nice touch. But anyway, moving on.

I'm so torn on this book. It was beautifully written and wrapped up but… I just almost wish it had ended a little bit differently.

Although it was much different than I thought it would be, Out of Breath is a great ending to a wonderful series. I'll sincerely miss Evan Mathews.
