Read aloud with my 5 year old boy. There are lots of parts we enjoyed. He laughed several times and was constantly asking if we could read more of Pippi. Some chapters were great, others weren’t much fun to get through. Pippi had a lot of long winded monologues and both of our attentions wandered during those times.
I’m glad we read it and that he enjoyed it as much as he did at his age. I think it might be easier to understand at a little older age, maybe around 8.
I personally might’ve rated the book a little lower than 4 stars. But because of the sheer joy and laughs my son had at times, I think it does deserve the 4 stars.

Thank you to Libro FM and Penguin Random House Audio for the ALC of this book!
I KNOW that this is a classic and it is a translated text, but it is the weirdest child that ever lived. I think the goofiness of Pippi always stuck out to me, even though I hadn’t read the book. She’s entertaining, but this does feel more like short stories rather than a whole interconnected novel.

I had to read it for class so I didn’t really like it, but the some of the stuff that happened was really crazy so 3 stars

In my effort to read as many classic children's books as I can, I figured I'd better get Pippi Longstocking checked off my list. I think I probably read this as a young child, but if you can't remember, you gotta read it again, yes?
The book is about a young girl who lives alone after her mother died and her father was lost at sea. She has an interesting personality, and an incredible amount of strength. An incredibly unrealistic amount of strength. Overall I would say that I did not enjoy this book. There was no real plot, and only many unrelated stories that didn't feel very cohesive. I am a little biased: I've never been a person who particularly enjoys very unrealistic stories, and I didn't love any of the characters. Pippi was too obnoxious, and Tommy and Annika were too flat. I do think I liked it more as a child though, so you take my opinion pretty lightly!
