I don't remember this from childhood but for some reason I owned it and thought I'd give it a go as I'm not wanting to read anything heavy at the moment.
I can't believe this repellant little brat is considered a heroine. No wonder we have such a problem with entitlement. She is rude, a liar, unhygienic and is the very epitome of the attitude that money and property give the right to do what you please.
The fire chapter is jaw-dropping in its lack of empathy and sensitivity. How could Pippi possibly believe the children could or should be enjoying that?
Awful, it should be banned!

Enjoyed revisiting this book from my childhood before my trip to Sweden this summer.

Maybe I like Pippi because she had a faint whiff of Anne about her? Perhaps. All I really know is that she is hilarious. There was not a single page in which I was not laughing at her--rather hard. Definitely one of my favorite kids books. Right up there with Fortunately the Milk.

Oh, that we all could have had a friend like Pippi!

I’m sure I read this as a kid, and I do remember the movie version from some point in my childhood. I read it over the weekend to prep for our school’s Battle of the Books. It’s delightful still; I was a bit worried that it might be too dated, but the antics are silly. I found lots of tidbits to use in our quizzes.

Plot or Character Driven: A mix

Every time I read this I love it more. This time with my 8 year old, last time doing it with our 3rd grade homeschool curriculum. 😭

Darling children's book with similar whimsy and charm to characters like Amelia Bedilia, Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle, Madeline, Curious George and Mary Poppins. I'm sure Pippi has inspired many writers and storytellers in their creation of delightful characters to bring light hearted humor and comical adventure to any tale.
