Pippi stands the test of time. Sure, the adult in me wants to find a way to help her enjoy school, to improve her literacy and make her wear a helmet at all times because she's constantly in danger of falling; but most of the time I'd be right there with Pippi, hanging out inside a hollow tree, making up fabulous stories and teaching people lessons with courage, kindness, and acrobatics.
Pippi is a confident, kooky, adventurous young girl who is obviously intelligent despite only having a half of formal education. He creativity and imagination make this book a glimpse back into childhood that is worth revisiting if you've read it before, or even reading for the first time if you missed it as a kid.

Hoenstly team, this would have been better as a child and I didn't really enjoy the stories as an adult. I understand that these stories are some people's faves but for me... they just weren't too special :/

I dont think I've ever despised a main character as much as Pippi. It's quite impressive how angry a children's book can make me

An absolutely wonderful book for children and those young at heart. Pippi has always been one of my favorite characters! I love reading all of her adventures! A definite classic!!!

Pippi Longstocking is a dumb idiot who doesn't understand basic social cues.
Hilarious book! Like, really, you just got to read it! (And my word is all you need ^_^)
I had mixed feelings about this book. It was fun that my kids were not super interested in it when I suggested it for an audio book in the car, but very soon after it started their tunes had changed. The book made us all laugh out loud from time to time. She's just so positive and funny and always up for fun. My oldest dislikes awkwardness and she does get into awkward positions because she just has no idea about how to behave at the circus or at school or at a coffee party. During the parts where he was covering his ears because she was just so awkward, I sort of found myself cringing as well (and I don't usually have the same problem as he does in this regard), but it really was so darn awkward. Then again at the same time it was also funny how far her awkwardness went sometimes, like when she tells such ridiculous stories about her grandma's maid a the coffee party -- it is a bit of a mockery (conscious by the author of course but unconscious by Pippi) of all the prim ladies there complaining about their maids. Also, her lack of interest in education but abundance of pizzazz and pluck and imagination was probably a good reminder to me that talents and gifts come in many forms. I really wish I had read this as a kid. I think I wouldn't have been so hard on her then.
