Eh.

This suffered from pacing issues and cardboard characters. It was fine to pass a rainy afternoon but entirely forgettable. I am a bit baffled by the glowing reviews.

I really need to write reviews of books like this immediately after I finish them. Now I'm two books down the line and I can't remember this one in much detail at all. I do know that it focuses on three different people in alternating chapters and they are all strangers to one another - the loose connection is that one manages a clothing shop in a shopping mall, one is a security guard at the mall and one sometimes shops (and shoplifts) in the mall. Also they all have dramas in their personal lives. The security guard has a mother with dementia and a workmate who is trying to blackmail him. The shoplifter is desperate for a place to live so settles for an odd set up with a creepy and secretive flatmate. The shop manager is being stalked. Oh and there's a potentially a serial killer in the area.

You know the formula: you spend most of the group trying to guess how these three will come together and what the connections will be. The suspense gets strung along until very close to the end, but the waiting got a bit tiresome and the revelations felt somewhat ridiculous. There were a lot of sub-plots to keep up the drama but they got wound up as an afterthought.

It was perfectly okay, but not sufficiently gripping or surprising to merit more than 3 stars.

You just know that when a book starts with three people standing over a dead body, that this one is going to be good. And it did not disappoint. Each chapter follows one of the three people, flipping between their individual stories on the lead up to the predicament they find themselves in, when finally their stories all come together at the end.
This was a fast-paced and fun read, filled with a cast of interesting characters.

This was a really easy read, flowed along quickly and kept my attention. I really enjoyed it!
Not a 5 star read, as other reviewers have said, but a solid 4

This is the first book where I didn't figure out who is the bad guy halfway through the book. I used to avoid thrillers and mysteries just for the sake of this. I love how the story was weaved. Like she chose 3 normal people and wrote a story about them. Everything about this book was perfection and o thoroughly enjoyed it.

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for this book.

Meet Ursula , Gareth and Alice. Ursula has lost the love of her life and her life has spiralled out of control. Gareth’s mum is suffering from dementia and he is desperately trying to keep her safe whilst continuing his job as a Security Officer. Alice has met a new man but not everything is as it seems. The three protagonists have never met before, and yet their lives are going to come together in a way that will keep you guessing right to the end.

This is my 6th Cally Taylor read and I have enjoyed every single one. Whilst not always likeable, her characters are well drawn and her stories suck you in from page one and keep you turning the pages. This book is out on 2nd April and is available for pre-order on kindle for only £4.99.

I would like to thank both Net Galley and Avon Books for providing me with a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

I have loved every book by Cally so far and this did not disappoint. What a page turner of a read, I devoured 200 pages of it in just one day. I love the multiple point of view the story is told in. Parts are very tense throughout. Edge of your seat, gasping moments are a plenty.
Brilliantly written. The ending really heats up bringing them all together with an explosive outcome. New friends are made, people are forgiven and changed but over what? Strangers is a gripping read and we get a great look into each characters life and circumstances. Each character had something difficult and different to tackel so there was always something to keep you flicking those pages.
A well deserved four stars from me. Highly recommend. Loved it. I already cannot wait to read her next book. She writes brilliant books.

Three separate stories that collide spectacularly, originally, and surprisingly!

C.L. Taylor writes an ingenious thriller that checked all the boxes for me. Told from multiple perspectives. Each character with a strong voice and those oh so human flaws that make you want to dig deep into their story to find how they found themselves entangled in this nasty web.

Listen as an Audio book via NetGalley and the narration by Clare Corbett was fantastic

My favorite type of thriller involves multiple story-lines told with characters that seemingly have no connection to one another. That is... till their paths ultimately cross, crashing together!
And C.L. Taylor did it perfectly! I had no idea how these characters would intersect! Never imagined the plot twists Ms Taylor so cleverly threw at me along the way!
