WHAT??! This book was bananas and it left me in a state very similar to the one after I watched Shutter Island…aka it’s going to take me a full two weeks to really process everything that happened.

Most of the book was really boring, and the best part of it was the last chapter from Ezra's pov. So, considering this fact i understand all those people, who didn't finish the book. However, those few pages of the last chapter intrigued me.

To be honest the ending reminded me of the tv show “The Umbrella Academy” and the Libby's plot twist (kinda) reminded me of “The Ninth House” by Leigh Bardugo. I will probably read the sequel though, because i liked that ending a little bit (and i love Ezra, not gonna lie about this one), hopefully it will get better.

Started off strong but never really got into good groove. Characters are either tedious, entirely unlikable/unrelatable, or mostly ignored by the author after introduction. No payoff

It's interesting because this book has so much potential, and parts of it were really interesting. But, like, nothing really happened? It was mostly just the characters talking to each other about what was going to happen. The ending is when things started to pick up, so we'll see how the next book pans out.

I went into this book expecting more magical fight scenes, or more tests for the six to compete in. I kept waiting for the action to start, until I realized it was more of a neo-noir mysterious book full of people scheming against each other and contemplating ethics. It was enjoyable to read, though I had hoped to have more clarity and answers by the end of the book.
