The second in the Maybe Mine series by A.W. Scott, Scott levels up with the kink-smut content, and plays with a bit of animosity-to-lovers with the fated mates bond.
Brad is the local small-town librarian and Colin is a new face to town, who is secretly a famous gay romance author (sigh). The issue is that the animosity is never really explained nor understood by anyone in the book, but also myself. Brad just... doesn't like Colin. No reason given, some sort of attempt to be saying it was ignoring their fated mate bond (?) but that didn't make much sense to me either. Colin is surprisingly possessive within his mind and his want for Brad, and once they get over the hurdle of Brad kind of just being rude by bonding over a dog, things are pretty smooth from there.
They fall in love pretty much instantly, there's some breeding kink shenanigans, and then they have babies. He ends up getting pregnant only eight weeks after he has the first child, and that just seems like a lot of stress on his body. They're happy, though!
