I really loved this book. The writing was great, the cast of characters sparkled off the page, and the mysteries were really fun with a slow build to unraveling them all. I loved the steamy romance. This book made me feel more confident as a queer woman. It made it easier to imagine a community and I loved the found family. I was totally absorbed while I was reading it and while I had a few quibbles, overall I found it a wonderful world to escape into with a fresh and fun concept.

Edit: dropping my review from 4.5 to 4. When the excitement of being in the story has worn off I have a few more criticisms of some of the racial dynamics in the book.

I read this as a fan of RWRB and it completely overturned my expectation. Such a beautiful romance through the lens of such a layered character with a dash of detective work and sci-fi that just makes it all so much more delicious. Highly recommend it if you're into tooth-rotting fluff or are more partial to romance than either of the above genres.

Time travel, the subway and saphic romance, what more is there. Very emotional and well writen love story. The amount of detail about the 70's and 80's queer protests was so good. I loved feeling like a part of this little queer family.

 Started reading this on the subway during my last minute solo trip to New York, which felt apt. Also, definitely missed my stop.

I am wary of books and movies that play around with the concept of time as they can either make me very disappointed and frustrated or they can intrigue and excite me- the former is occurs more often. This book though was the latter! I have so many unanswered questions and some confusion though that I probably will think about for so long.

Overall a fun read that I would recommend! Very coming of age (particularly queer coming of age). Because of the pacing I feel like this could be a good book to get out of a reading slump, even though it's not exactly a short book. I loved the combination of characters and the way it felt like they all fit together perfectly, especially Niko and Myla (psychic + sci-fi nerd artist both helping to solve this wacky timey-wimey mystery? yes please) The vibes were just super fun and wholesome, with a decent mix of introspection and personal growth. It kind of dragged on for a bit about 3/4 of the way through in my opinion, which made the end a bit less satisfying, but I still enjoyed it. There were some parts that were steamier than I expected, but I guess it is a romance novel after all, I just wish I had been a bit better prepared for them.

Was not a fan of how August and Jane went straight to having sex again after Jane came back... like I get it, and August did talk about how the first thing she wanted to do if Jane got off the subway was take her home, but I was also so invested in the Billy's fundraiser and celebration and it kind of bummed me out that that part got cut short.

a super fun concept and a gorgeous sapphic romance!! all of the relationships are so fun, and i love how august has such distinct connections with each character.

This was an incredible read. it really felt like a love story to 70’s queer history told in a way that brings it to the present. Casey’s characters are always people you want to root for, regardless of what is going on. She also managed to make it feel like we inhabited all the place in the story and befriended all of the characters. A really fun read!

God where do I even begin? This made a romance-hater believe in the power of love and found family. Like WHO AM I RIGHT NOW?

There were minor things that kept this from being 5 stars for me, but I still loved it all the same.
