Great book!! Loved the descriptions and imagery. Some parts felt a little slow but it was definitely a page turner and quick read.

the story was gruesome in someway but also so captivating
I adore this book but I only listened to Stephanie soo ngl but that was chefs kiss bro

This novel was recommended to me by a librarian when i was still in my second year of highschool and it has been on my tbr list since then and m so glad i finally picked it up and read it cause I LITERALLY LOVED ITTTT I ENJOYED IT AND I FELT BAD AFTER FINISHING IT however i didn’t like some parts that’s why i gave it four stars instead of five.

"But to have made such a modest exit would have demanded a modicum of native civility, and that Grenouille did not possess. He was an abomination from the start. He decided in favor of life out of sheer spite and sheer malice."

The writing style of this book was nearly as interesting as the subject matter itself. It was so weird, extremely disturbing, but unique and certainly creative. I was utterly revolted by the man character, and isn't that the mark of a good book, to feel emotion so strongly?

This whole book contains too much graphic imagery. I don't mind portrayals of sex and genitalia but in this book it was mostly unnecessary. It reads very much like it is written by a straight man. I would say that this book had a potential to be a classic but the execution is terrible. It left me confused and mortified.
