Read a little bit at the library to check if I want to buy it / commit to loaning and reading it. I think yes :)

This was  unexpectedly so good! Was not expecting great things after shadow and bone (which i thought was super overhyped and a bit shit) but the storyline was far more developed and the character depth made them much more engaging and believable; I felt far more connected to them and i loved the alternate povs. The more narrow, simplistic approach to a plot line definitely worked better for bardugo as it was a lot more hashed out and easy to follow. My only complaint is that I wish the world building had been better. Despite them being stand alone books, it felt like u needed to read shadow and bone to understand the significance of certain words/events and i found it difficult to envision the barrel until the end of the book. But was super good and defo worth the hype, love it!

Well this story was definitely original and crazy. It was entertaining for sure. I think it might have been a little too dark for me. A little too gruesome, a little too... full of prostitution and violence. I did love the dynamic between Kaz and Inej, and the friends-to-more thing they had going on. I hope he gets the gloves thing figured out. I liked the imagery of Fjerda, and the ice palace fortress. The characters were definitely well developed and vivid. The settings too. But man. I like my fair share of hopeful and happy content
