I thoroughly enjoyed watching the protagonist discover herself and reconnect with her lifelong passion. While the romance wasn’t exactly at the forefront of the story (despite the title), it was charming and sweet, perfect for high schoolers.

This book was ridiculously cute. It's been so long since I've so wholeheartedly loved a cast of characters. This book is cutesy, a bit immature at times, and quite predictable--but in the best way possible. There are some really great discussions about race, friendships, romance, creativity, and self-doubt, but the book still is lighthearted and sweet. Would definitely recommend if you want to read a joyful--with just the perfect dash of drama and confusion--book about romance and writing, complete with lovely characters and relatable moments.

I loved this book! I read it during a tough time in my life. Pure escapism. It had all the classic romance tropes that I’ve grown to enjoy. It’s a really wholesome read. I loved seeing Tessa evolve and the lessons she learned. I look forward to reading Bryant’s new book!

a solid entry in the ya romance genre. really shines for providing a u pair perspective. i like the character has flaws and they are not shied away from while also not being too harsh. i love how the story feel like it could be a very true story. very engaging writing
