I loved the narration and the stories that Clayton shared. I felt connected to him in many points. I felt a resurgence of connection to my own family too. I've long avoided topics surrounding my indigenous background, but it's been something I've wanted to explore. Thank you to the author for igniting this within me.

Quick and easy read; raw, vulnerable, warm and funny.

The book had interesting information on being native male but the presentation was a melee of memories and reminiscences.

It jumped around a lot and revisited the same traumatic life events and time periods in multiple sections of the book.  Sometimes I wondered if he hadn't realized that he'd already covered this material earlier. Maybe there was a point the author was making that I was missing?

There was a lot of relapsing in the author's life --which was sad and excruciating to read about. So much trauma, incarceration, drug use.

But the author seems to be on firmer ground in the more recent years covered toward the end of the book. Really, it's remarkable that he is as self-reflective and as productive as he is given his history. And the book covers his many efforts to stear Indigenous youth in the right direction and to fight environmental battles in Canada and globally. He repeatedly expressed gratitude especially to his Indigenous elders for guidance he has received.
