The audio was great! The narrator really done this book so so well, and brought it to life. Every part of it is done so so well, and I enjoyed every second of listening to it.

The start of an epic story, The Fall of Magic builds a world of elves, magi, and a darkness threatening to destroy all. I loved diving into the world of Aurotheros and getting to know the magic system and otherworldly beasts. The story follows a band of characters who each bring their own strengths to the table, ultimately a story of finding your way in the world and accepting your destiny through the help of others. First in a series, I can’t wait to see how our heroes will tackle the next hurdle and to learn more about the blight trying to take over the land.

⭐️⭐️ SHORT STORY WITH AN EPIC PREMISE

I was really drawn in by the premise of The Fall of Magic—it had the bones of a great epic fantasy and the potential to be something truly special. Unfortunately, the execution fell short. The story tried to take on the scope and tone of a full-blown epic, but the length just didn’t support that kind of ambition.

Because of that, the characters didn’t get the development they needed, and the worldbuilding felt rushed and underexplored. I wanted to care more, to feel immersed, but the emotional connection never quite landed. With more time and pages, this could have been a much stronger, more impactful story. As it stands, it’s a book full of promise that didn’t quite live up to its potential.

Thank you to The Nerd Fam for the gifted eARC.

I think the plot and characters were interesting and had a lot of potential, especially for sequels and furthering the story.

I do think the writing needs more development. I didn’t really feel any emotional connection through the story and it felt very to the point while reading. The love story aspect didn’t feel like it had a lot of development, build up or tension.

I would still say it’s a very solid story and an interesting world. I would love to see where it goes in any continuations.

As a fan of fantasy stories, I thought The Fall of Magic by Phoenix Rokini was interesting and emotional. It’s about a group of people, including magical knights, traveling through a world where magic is fading. The knights used to protect the land, but now they’re not sure what to do as their powers start to disappear. The story is more about their feelings and changes than big fights or fast action.
The writing is really descriptive, allowing you to truly envision the environment. It reminded me a lot of The Lord of the Rings, especially the quieter parts when characters are thinking about their past or what’s coming next. The magical knights felt like they came from that same kind of world—brave, noble, and a little bit sad. If you like detailed fantasy worlds and character-driven stories, this book might be for you.
It’s not super fast-paced, and it can be a little slow at times. But if you like stories about old magic, ancient warriors, and the end of an era, you’ll probably enjoy it. It’s not the kind of book with epic battles, but it does leave you thinking after you finish it.

⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

Overall this is a solid book which has set itself up for sequels well - there’s no big cliffhanger and the book comes to an end.

The writing style of the author prevents this getting above a 3.5/5 for me. It’s quite matter of fact which takes away the ability to build tension and also results in scenes progressing very quickly with limited description or set up at times. You don’t get drawn into the story to really get involved and feel what’s going on.

The characters are varied and the world itself is intriguing and only a small amount is explored. There isn’t any hand holding, you have to piece together the religion and world structure as you go.

I’d read the sequel and if you feel you read the same style all the time this would be a great alternative. For a debut it’s a great book!
