Truly transgressive. Significantly smarter and better written that I thought it would be, but also completely demented. This one will linger.

this... really touched me. in a weird way. like, i feel gored out after finishing it.

its good and i liked it. its also insanely fucked up, gory, and gross. and now i feel like im probably gonna take it with me forever, whether i want to or not.

the writing was beautiful, especially the descriptions of gore and fucked up shit. i know it sounds weird just hearing me say that, but its true! reminded me of lolita and juniper and thorn in that aspect. really great, im probably gonna read more of this authors works in search for more of this kind of prose/voice.

also, this final paragraph ruined me:
Tran fell out of his binding straps and melted slowly into Jay’s ribcage. A large, viscous, faintly iridescent stain ate up the concrete floor around them. Their eyes were black caverns. They gave birth to worms, generation after generation, until their bodies were covered as if in a living blanket. Soon they were picked clean, their bones an ivory sculpture-puzzle shining in the dark, waiting to tell their mute love story.

Decided to pick this up due to my love of serial killers (thanks dad), horror erotica (thanks fanfiction) and some appealing reviews scattered throughout booktok and bookstagram (i hate both of those monikers). On most fronts, I was satisfied. Compton was an interesting character and I can safely say that I enjoyed listening to his inner musings. Rather pathetically, I didn’t even realize the Dahmer themes until much later while reading other reviews (my dad would be so disappointed that our hours watching documentaries was for nothing, sigh). I found Tran to be lovable and
although knowing his demise was predetermined, I was rooting for him the whole time.
Luke’s addition to the plot? Eh. The last page? Left my stomach turning for hours.

Billy Martin is doing what Eric Larocca thinks they're doing but better and with more interesting character development. can get quite extreme at times so just be prepared for that

I read most of this on public transport, that truly was a choice on my part.

It has amazing prose with visceral and beautiful description. The characters are interesting with their thought process clearly communicated to the readers. The extreme horror scenes managed to deliver on the gore and horror without coming across as edgy or juvenile. My only complaint is that the book should have been longer to develop the dynamic between Jay and Andrew and their hunt to get Tran.
