It was super fun to read a book so inspired by D&D. I enjoyed the D&D characters even more than the characters of the book actually.

The reason for the 3.75 rating is because the pace at which the romance happens was unrealistically fast. I get that they knew each other as teens, but June’s self-discovery, Nova’s quick forgiving, and then immediately jumping into being in love just didn’t feel like fleshed-out writing in the romance department.

Otherwise, Nova being neurodivergent and non-binary was very well written. They went by she/they pronouns and the author would switch between the pronouns seamlessly.

This was so cuteeeee! D&D was so important in my coming out experience and seeing that in a book for a couple of gay nerds is so validating. The roleplay during sex was not my vibe hence the .75.

Omg! This was cutest, spiciest, nerdy neurodivergent sapphic queer romance novel ever. I loved both Nova and June, and was rooting for them through the entire book. I’m still swooning.

Thank you, Erin Branch, for this ARC. This book was really interesting.

June is a Dungeons and Dragons YouTuber who uses her character, Awe, to teach viewers about D&D. She recently moved back in with her parents after a break up and reconnected with her high-school friends. One of those friends is Nova, who is also a D&D enthusiast and an author with a secret.

As their D&D group reconnects, June and Nova start catching feelings, but June is straight and isn't sure she understands ger feelings. Nova also doesn't understand their feelings since she started this campaign with different intentions for her character, Hunt, and Awe. Now, they both have to decide if navigating a queer relationship is what they want.

This book has so much representation and is pretty relatable, even if you don't know D&D. I know nothing about the game, and I was slightly confused during some parts when the group was playing, but for the most part, I understood the concept of what was happening. There was a lot of character growth, especially from June, and the spice was very well done.
