Sweet, Steamy, & Surprising!
This was a fun read with likeable characters, sexual tension galore, high stakes hijinks, and a satisfying HEA!

This was a quick read.

Skye bordered on insufferable but mostly I stayed with it cause I liked Ansel.
Skye was so naive and just down right stupid. I skimmed so much cause the pinning for her ex drove me mad.

I hated that she was so self centered she never believed Ansel. Like he was making up his hardships.

I really should have DNF'd this book when she hadn't really had any character growth even at 80%

Largely, I'm putting down this book because the heroine is just TSTL. She is ridiculously naive, a caricature really, and even the other aspects of her personality (like the anxiety rep) don't make up for that. She also reacted with what is basically this world's equivalent to white fragility when informed of the true racism against orcs. The racism, which very much mirrors that faced by Black people in the United States, is well nuanced and might have things to say about the plight of BIPOC people and the insidious and rampant inequality in a country with "equal" rights, but I just don't care enough about the heroine to stick around for her eventual AHA! moment.

• Slow burn (but not too slow)
• Captor / Captive
• Kidnapping

This was a great debut novel! I loved the characters, even grumpy Liam. I’ve read many Orc Romances but this was my first Orc Mafia Romance and I have to say I enjoyed more than I expected to. I’m not sure where I got this rec from but I’m glad I had the release date saved.

I was so mad when Ansel did what he did! They betrayal! I loved how the FMC showed him she could take care of herself.

Definitely worth the read if you love Orc Romances.

DNF @ 70%

The dialogue is weird, the heroine’s a doormat, and the spice just didn’t work
