I struggled to read this, really enjoyed the first book but this felt disjointed. The author has clearly done a decent amount of research but I'm not sure the overall story was as strong as the first book. The new characters were interesting, the new setting in Africa and the wider historic view allade sense but the whole thing fell flat for me. I found the book horribly depressing which can't be a surprise

Amazing book. Plot setting was superd as it was
set it the ww2 era
so it was nice. The way the character develops, faces challenges is also very detailed and written superb. A great book by Matt Killeen.

Not as good as the first one. I read them back to back and this wasn’t as good.

I liked the first one better. This book took me forever to read. It's not a reflection on it but on the fact that I have a paper copy. However, that colored the way I read it. Having breaks in reading a story that needs to flow definitively throws everything off.

i got about 30% of the way through it before i had to stop. the characters were annoying and unlikeable and i was completely bored the whole time.
from what i remember i liked the first book but this one is just really bad.

took me longer than i thought it would. wasn’t as engaging or good as the first one i don’t think but i still loved a lot of it and lots of the twists were very good. loved the main character still and the writing style and how she is presented is so good i love how it’s all written :)
