This is my first book by this author, and I really appreciate her ability to write about people, their complexities, and their relationships.
I usually am drawn to more of a plot, (with strong character development) but didn't need it here. It reminds me of the movie Before Sunrise (and the sequels) in that there's not a lot going on, but you're captivated by the individual interactions. And it also made me think about each of our stories, far beyond the pages of this book.
You have to be in a patient, contemplative mood for this book, and I apparently was. I would definitely read more by this author.

An utter joy - Olive Kitteridge and Lucy Barton in the same book. It’s not really about much - just the joy of small connections and people’s quiet lives - but stunning as always. And as always particularly elevated by the wonderful narrator I think.
I agree with someone who said this book felt like listening to my grandparents ramble about people I don’t really know or care about. The writing meanders without much focus, and the story gets lost in excessive details. I kept waiting for something compelling to happen, but it never did.

A new Elizabeth Strout is always a cause for celebration and Tell Me Everything is no exception to that rule. It brings all of her characters together, in the town of Crosby, and examines the details of their lives (& many others) in minute detail. The legend that is Olive Kitteridge finally meets up with Lucy Barton, but this story isn’t so much about them. The wonderful Bob Burgess is front & centre, and what a character he is! Gentle & kind, Bob keeps trying his best, even when he doesn’t know what that means.
I fully expected to love this book & I really did. I feel like Bob, Lucy, Olive, Jim & their friends & families will stay with me for a while now. I’m tempted to reread the whole back catalogue so I don’t have to leave them just yet. Many thanks to NetGalley & Viking for an early copy.
