Slow, endless apparently unrelated interminable stories about lives we are made to care about. I’m sure it would have eventually been pulled together, but it wasn’t compelling enough to make me want to continue.

On paper this book should be something I enjoy gojng off patterns of past reads. And I did like it more than the other book by the author Ive read which was the first in the series. Its possible I would have enjoyed this one a little more had I read the books about Bob and Lucy that came before this one. But honestly I think maybe Im just not that into how Elizabeth Strout writes. Or...perhaps that isnt fair I think my proble might actually be the kind of people she writes about.

They feel like they are written real and believable, but...not in a way that is interesting to me personally? I have never for a single sentence been invested in whats going on with one of the main characters. But I suspect that might well just be personal preference.
