I enjoy Lemony Snicket's way of writing and thinking.

The author's style of writing is not to my liking. The stream of consciousness approach detracts from the narrative flow, leaving me perpetually confused about the plot, despite its apparent simplicity.

It is unclear whether the translation is the source of the problem or if Lemony Snicket refused an editor, resulting in the book's current state. It is surprising that this book was even published.

Anyway, one's lifespan is too limited to be spent on this book.

Después de terminar su, expertamente preparado, desayuno, Lemony Snicket descubre una nota que dice "Has desayunado veneno", ante lo cual todos sus engranes mentales empiezan a trabajar y corren a mil por hora para descifrar qué ha sucedido y las implicaciones de semejante desayuno.

Acompañamos a Lemony en un recorrido por los lugares donde adquirió cada artículo del desayuno, y por varias tangentes también, en el afán de encontrar respuesta a tal acontecimiento.

La trama no es un misterio, sino más bien una exploración filosófica que habla de muerte, literatura, historias, pensamientos racionales y otros no tanto; todo embargado del humor tan característico del autor.

Me gustó muchísimo, aún si a ratos te pierdes por las tangentes, cada una tiene su razón de ser, y constituyen la peculiaridad de la historia.

El final es simplemente Lemony Snicket siendo Lemony Snicket.
