I have read better work in the past. I did like some parts of his journal, yet I was bored at numerous occasions.

Some poems were quite dark and challenging. Most of them were inspired by the priest's faith, others by nature.  His cadence and wordplay is fascinating to read. However most of the poems didn't have much of an impact to me to be honest, probably because I'm not religious. There are also some extracts from his journal with beautiful nature writing, which made me realise I should read more nature writing, as I love that.

I always give poetry 5 stars; I think poetry is personal and it's not my place to judge it. I didn't love this one, some of them I liked, I just didn't really get on with his style.
