I didn't know this was a "sequel" when I was reading it, so I think my rating is a little less biased than some of the others.
Had to give this one 4 stars because this is the only one that most resembles Sidney Sheldon's writing style. A bit too much characters, methinks, but at least satisfy my missing Mr. Sheldon so much.
I have not read a Sydney Sheldon book in forever, and completing the storyline that got me hooked in the first place was my point of interest in this book, not completed by him. It was fine. Not as compelling as his books but a mostly satisfying end to the Blackstone family saga.
This book was absolutely terrible!! Was nothing like Sidney at his prime. Even worst than Sidney post prime. It just jumped from character to character and year to year without fully developing the characters or plot ideas. Sidney created worlds whereas Tilly just seems to throw half baked plots at us.
I thought the revenge against the Pig storyline was going to be something good, instead revenge was meted out within one paragraph. I was left thinking, was that it? I didn't even feel like he got his comeuppance.
I knew this sequel could never live up to the original, but the depths to which it failed really disappointed me.
I am shocked that so many people rated it highly.

Going well up to now.. Hope this would be interesting as Sheldon's.
Sidney Sheldon has always been one of my favorite authors. When he died I thought I'd never get to read another book of his. While this book doesn't quite match Sidney Sheldon, the style is similar enough to hold my suspense. I read Master of the Game back in the early 1980's, and while reading this sequel, found that I desperately wanted to go back and re-read it to get to know the characters again. But reading this sequel was kind of like slipping into a favorite pair of gloves. It just felt "right". It was a satisfying read!
