4.1 AVERAGE

Why do all the animals have to use he/him pronouns? I don't understand (and so I change the pronouns every time we read it, mixing in she/hers and they/thems). Still, my kid loves this book, and she's not alone; a couple of different people gifted it to us. It was one of the first lift-the-flaps she got super excited about. She'd give it a 5, I'd give it a 3, so I'm rating it 4 stars.

It’s kind of fun making up for my lack of children’s books during my childhood by reading every children’s books I can find online :)

This is currently the small human’s favourite book, with compulsory daily reading. I switch up the genders (except the lion’s!) because that’s how I roll 😁

(Read with little sister as part of the "1,001 Children's Books To Read")

The book was entertaining and it was fun to wonder what the zoo would eventually send him.

F (25 months) loved this book. At this stage he can identify all the animals and he loves lifting the flaps. This would be a good one to own.

This is cute - if a bit repetitive. It's for younger children than 4 - 1 to 3 would be the perfect age, but my son picked it out and he likes to "read" it too me. Well he almost could, for reelz, but that's beside the point. He finishes all the sentences and points out the characteristic of the animal that makes it an unsuitable pet. And we talked about what other things you could do with a puppy dog other that keep it. "Love him"!!!

I get the criticism of rejecting all the animals, but I reckon my neighbours would be pretty unimpressed if I tried to keep a giraffe in the back yard. My daughter loves lifting the flaps and making up her own reasons why the animals were sent back.

This is a cute little book. My son likes the flaps and making the animal sounds (when he knows them! -What sound does a camel make anyway...?). He knows puppy now too. :)

A classic lift-the-flap book, where you discover various animals inside crates/cages/kennels.

Great for helping toddlers with their prediction skills.
