This one was too slow for me and it was just circling the drain and not really moving along
Never boring, this quick read kept me turning pages, but oh, what a frustrating ending!
This is one of those suspense novels where you suspect everybody – so of course I suspected the perpetrator/s all along!
The main character, Meredith, - what a total ninny! But such a stunner that she slayed men wherever she walked. (Yeuch).
The writing was good overall, but Kent uses that (annoying in my view) device of using brand names as shorthand descriptions. Not only will this date the book, but it also makes it less accessible for an international audience. For example she describes a car park filled with ‘shiny Lincolns and Buicks and a group of white-haired Lululemon- wearing women..’ – so is this a working class area, a posh area, a vintage fair …?
So the ending …

Meredith is such a ninny..take your trust fund and run, honey!
This is my first Minka Kent book! I give it a solid 3 stars. Kent's writing is fast-paced and breezy. I like when writers have more than one point of view and we get a glimpse of things from multiple angles. While I wasn't surprised by the twists in this book, the writing and characters were good enough to keep me reading.
The story follows Meredith. She's young, beautiful, and rich. She has overcome a disappointing childhood to find a stable, older man who spoils her...and then she goes missing. Hot on the trail is her dogged sister, Greer. Greer is strong, suspicious of everyone, and tends to take things into her own hands. I am a fan of strong female characters, so I loved Greer and her no apologies attitude. My one complaint is that for a character as smart as she is, some of the plot is a bit of a stretch. A woman like Greer, with her street smarts, would know when to stop sticking her nose in certain places. I won't say more for fear of giving anything away.
Overall, I enjoyed this as a good summer read. The writing was solid. The characters were well developed. The twists got a little out of hand towards the end, but I still had a hard time putting the book down.

I got this book as my free kindle first selection for June. I liked it but I didn't love it. The characters were not especially likable but not entirely unlikable either. What made it 3 stars instead of 4 was that the ending just fell flat for me.
Not terrible, just didn’t move fast enough for me. I was expecting more suspense

Story premise is good. Everything else, meh. Kent writes like a sixth grader trying to impress the teacher with her knowledge of Adjectives. Finding Meredith apparently had to be a knightly quest, when a phone call to the police would have shortened the time necessary to find her. Meredith is not a likeable character, and I couldn't believe Andrew suddenly really loved her for more than arm candy. Greer is badass and Harris is believable, so they are the redeeming qualities.
