A super interesting and new view On the inner workings of diplomacy. Apparently it’s well researched and seems realistic. I really started to hope and fear for the characters. One of the best books I’ve read recently. I heard the author got banned from entering turkey because of it.

It's been awhile since I enjoyed a book this much. Follows a German Consulate over a couple of her posts. The writing style is weirdly both vague and very detailed... Not sure how to describe it. But I really enjoyed it.. Most of it takes places in Turkey, a place I have spent some time and the other really effortlessly talks about some of the things one experiences there. Easy read, short chapters. Intriguing story (deals with freedom of the press in Turkey, but without a lot of moralizing, it just shows this one woman's encounters with it). A little romance (two very slightly ajar door scenes). My only complaint would be that the romantic interest presented doesn't quite mesh with his back story. In any case, very enjoyable. Would read more from this author.
