adventurous emotional hopeful inspiring lighthearted medium-paced

John Grogan recounts his experiences with Marley, an ill-behave yellow lab with a heart of loyalty. From the start of his marriage, to the glory years of his family, John learns to forgive Marley the unforgivable and live for love.

This dog has a personality all its own! Everytime I see an exuberant puppy it reminds me of Marle, a dog I have never even met but I feel like I did through this book. It sends the message that everyone has a place in this world and people who love them.

One of my favorite books of ALL time! This is an endearing story about a couple finding a new pup named Marley and they triumphs and turbulance that come in the journey of a beloved pet. I cried hard when this book was over. The movie is excellent as well!

I'm a dog lover, so of course this book struck an emotional cord with me. I think I read it in 2 days. A good, light-hearted read for anyone who has ever owned and loved a pet.

I am not an animal person but this book has made me want a puppy so much. I loved the entire book. I got so attatched to the dog that come the end of the book, I actually cried! I would read it again! And I probably will! And now I cannot wait for the movie to come out on Christmas... I just hope they don't mess it up.

John and Jenny are newlyweds. They don't know much about dogs but they decide a puppy would be the icing on their marital bliss cake. They do get some advice on how to pick a dog ... but they ignore it. You can see disaster coming a mile away.

Luckily for everyone concerned they are all committed to each other. Like all Labradors Marley thinks his owners are the best thing since sliced bread. Marley continues to be part of the family although he grows into a rocket propelled barrel that wreaks havoc on them, their home and friends. He is there through ups and downs, triumphs and disasters. Of course he is the source of a few too. And, as in all relationships, he is a source of many emotions and much growth.

This is a lovely and fun story, well written but not unique. I enjoyed it and recommend it.

This book made me cry so much but also laugh a lot. I love it.

lovely book. No surprises and no learning but the writor knows how to keep you interested. Just not my style of book.

I honestly don't see how this book has gotten to be such a big deal. there wasn't much originality here, except perhaps how stupid the owners were to pick the first puppy they see (and buying a breed they had never researched).
